Meet Lynn Jensen, FOUNDER & TRAINER
I'm Lynn Jensen, the founder of In Focus Vision Rehabilitation. I am a Registered Nurse, a Certified Vision Rehabilitation Therapist (CVRT), and a passionate advocate for people who are blind or have low vision. I'm here to help you reclaim your independence after vision loss.
I was born with full vision, but shortly after earning my nursing degree I experienced complete and sudden sight loss. It forced me to rethink my career and, let’s face it, pretty much everything else. I was determined to do something meaningful with my life, and I began by focusing on my own rehabilitation journey. With a lot of dedication and perseverance, I regained my independence, returned to school, earned a post-graduate certificate in rehabilitation teaching, and became a CVRT.
For the next 24 years, I worked at Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada (VLRC), formerly known as Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB), in Vancouver. I provided support and training to clients and families across British Columbia.
One of the accomplishments I’m most proud of is developing a very popular series of independent living skills workshops, called “Best Kept Secrets for Living With Sight Loss.” These workshops provided practical strategies, encouragement, and a welcoming space for people navigating life with vision loss. I also wrote the anonymous “Dear Izzy” advice column for clients and authored articles for healthcare professionals on best practices for supporting patients with sight loss, including “Focusing Your Care” (Jensen, 2012).
In 2026, I founded In Focus Vision Rehabilitation, where I work as an independent vision rehabilitation consultant. I want to reach as many people as possible with my Best Kept Secrets workshops and provide practical rehabilitation services to anyone, anywhere, struggling to adapt to life after vision loss.
I especially enjoy teaching in a group virtual format that brings people together from wherever they live. Vision loss can be a very isolating experience, and my clients benefit from hearing about each other's experiences, and simply knowing that they aren't the only ones going through this.
No one should navigate vision loss alone. My workshops were designed to connect people experiencing similar challenges. Participants not only gain skills, but also find community, confidence, and hope.
To help even more people get the most out of life, in February 2026 I released my first book, Best Kept Secrets for Travelers With Sight Loss. It was another big step in my mission to empower people to live fully and confidently.
When I’m not working, you’ll find me speaking at my local Toastmasters club, travelling, spending time with my family and hanging out with my new and retired guide dogs, Quest and Misty, at my home in Port Moody, BC.
I am deeply passionate about vision rehabilitation. Every day, I wake up grateful for the opportunity to help others build skills, regain confidence, and live independently.
