Meet Lynn Jensen
Registered Nurse (RN) & Certified Vision Rehabilitation Therapist (CVRT)
Lynn is a Registered Nurse, Certified Vision Rehabilitation Therapist (CVRT), and a passionate advocate for people who are blind or have low vision.
Shortly after earning her nursing degree, Lynn experienced complete and sudden sight loss, a life-changing event that ultimately reshaped her career. Determined to return to meaningful work, she committed herself fully to her own rehabilitation journey. Through dedication and perseverance, she regained her independence, returned to school, earned her post-graduate certificate in rehabilitation teaching, and became a CVRT.
Lynn went on to spend 24 years with Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada (VLRC), formerly known as Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB), in Vancouver, where she supported clients and families across the province. She independently developed a highly regarded series of independent living skills workshops, Best Kept Secrets for Living With Sight Loss, and delivered them, both in person and virtually, through CNIB and VLRC during her tenure. These workshops provided practical strategies, encouragement, and a welcoming space for people navigating life with vision loss.
Beyond direct service, Lynn has contributed to the field in meaningful ways. She wrote the anonymous Dear Izzy advice column for clients, is an active speaker at her local Toastmasters club, and has authored articles for healthcare professionals on best practices for supporting patients with sight loss, including Focusing Your Care (Jensen, 2012).
Today, Lynn continues her work as an independent vision rehabilitation consultant and founder of In Focus Vision Rehabilitation. She launched the company in 2026 to expand access to her Best Kept Secrets workshops and ensure that individuals receive timely, practical rehabilitation services, especially in a group virtual format that brings people together from wherever they live.
Lynn believes strongly that vision loss can be isolating, and that no one should navigate it alone. Her workshops were originally designed to connect people experiencing similar challenges. When the pandemic made in-person gatherings impossible, she collaborated with a colleague to successfully bring the program online. The response was extremely positive. Participants not only gained skills but also found community, confidence, and hope. That feedback inspired her to expand and further grow the virtual offerings.
In February 2026, Lynn released her first book, Best Kept Secrets for Travelers With Sight Loss, continuing her mission to empower people to live fully and confidently.
Lynn lives in Port Moody, BC, and enjoys traveling, spending time with her family and her new and retired guide dogs, Quest and Misty.
She remains deeply passionate about her work, waking up each day grateful for the opportunity to help others build skills, regain confidence, and live independently.
